A century later in 1795, this unique terroir would inspire a French family to continue the winemaking tradition in South Africa. He in turn divided the farm between his two sons; one retained the Veelverjaagt name while the other named his portion La Provence, to honor the birthplace of his forefathers. A new era began with the turn of the millennium when a group of families from Wisconsin, U.SA, fell in love with the grandeur of the Cape on their first visit to South Africa. Co-Owner and MD, Andrew Hilliard has taken over as full ownership of the brand and joining him in this new venture, Global Sales & Partner, Robert Carter and Wine Maker & Partner, Christian Kuun. These amazing wines and grapes will now be sourced from nearby farms and partners with the sales focus on the International Markets. With a degree in Business Administration and emphasis in Finance & Marketing; he is a dynamic entrepreneur & businessman. When he is not travelling the globe doing business for Beau Joubert’s superb wines, he enjoys his log cabin & outdoors in the north woods of Wisconsin, USA. His diverse sales, service and management experience in the beverage industry has included national and global brand design, retail and wholesale distribution strategy as well as staff management, P&L responsibility, procurement, vendor relations, market analysis, growth forecasting, and customer relations. These experiences contribute to his exceptional skills, producing Beau Joubert premium wines, as well as the easy drinking but complex Oak Lane wines. Winemakers Notes: Christian Kuun Made in a traditional Rhone style, this full bodied Shiraz offers intense plum and dark fruit flavours along with white pepper and spicy smokiness. With 24 months of careful oak maturation, in small French oak barrels, this wine has ripe and firm tannins for solid excellent structure and well balanced acid making it superbly complex. This Shiraz has the potential to age for another 10 years if cellared correctly. Meat dishes are ideal compliments to this wine but it will also make a fine solo wine. Pairings This fine example of a prime Shiraz will compliment any meat based meal but will also impress the most discerning palate on it’s own.
