What you should know about Puris Natural Aroma Chemicals (Pty) Ltd
Puris is a South African based aroma chemical producer, that started out by producing steam distilled essential oils from unique Fynbos flora, endemic to the Western Cape. Technological development and intensive research and investments led us to a company that manufactures a wide range of natural aroma chemicals through various high tech methods. In addition to the application of a wide range of conventional technologies, Puris utilises new advancements for the cost effective and sustainable production of flavour and fragrance components. Our innovative endeavours to produce a new generation of cultured aroma molecules are supported by research and commercial partnerships. Our passion for scientific advancements and a keen understanding of sensory perception has earned us a reputation of the highest service excellence our valued clients have come to expect. Having a working culture where innovation and pure commitment has accelerated our company from a small essential oil manufacturer to one where the possibilities seem endless today, we are proud to add value (up/down) to every facet of the production chain. Implementing biotechnological techniques to produce EU Natural Aromas is an exciting new development that enables us to be less dependent on invaluable natural resources and agricultural land. This places less strain on the environment that competes with antiquated agricultural processes. To be conscious of sustainability not only means to optimise our own efficiency. We explore innovative techniques that allow us to utilise various by-products as a source of our raw materials, which in turn adds value up and down the chain. Our endeavours are proudly supported by research institutions and other partnerships, and we are equally proud to return this support to local indigenous communities that originally acquired the knowledge and value of our unique and endemic flora of the Western Cape. South Africa has thus become one of the first countries in the world to officially regulate the protection and use of indigenous biological resources and associated traditional knowledge. In harmony with the goals of the Nagoya protocol, significant financial benefits from the utilization of these indigenous South African plant species will be paid to the progeny of the San and Khoi peoples, the original inhabitants of ancient Southern Africa, and keepers of the traditional knowledge associated with these plant species.
