Le Pommier is located on Helshoogte Pass (R310), the main route between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek and the perfect base from which to explore this unique and most breathtaking region. There are 12 suites, and 2 self-catering units in typical luxury country house style and comfort. Le Pommier Restaurant offers the best in country cuisine filled with flavour. Experience the taste of Le Pommier through our well-loved, easy drinking wines, to be enjoyed with good company, family and friends with or without food. After being double booked in our original place we were booked into Le Pommier. Upon arrival we were greeted with such a warm welcome. When we opened the door to our room we couldn’t believe our luck, the mini suite was awesome, huge four poster bed and free standing bath. Breakfast and dinner surpassed all expectations and the staff could not have been friendlier and gracious. We were staying next door at Alluvia so it was quite handy for us to walk the short distance to eat. We had both lunch and dinner at Le Pommier, and found the staff really helpful on both occasions. The food was great value and the menu was varied from local dishes to more cosmopolitan delights. Booked into this Wine Estate at the last minute, given an excellent room that was very comfortable and clean, overlooking the swimming pool and vineyards. The service and food in the restaurant was excellent, with the staff being very helpful and friendly. The nose is laden with gooseberry, tropical fruit with a hint of nettles. The palate shows lime, citrus and gooseberry fruit with a flinty, mineral finish. The wine has strawberry and gooseberry aromas on the nose with a rich and fruit forward texture in the mouth. On the nose this blend shows deep black fruit characters of blackberry and black cherries. The wine has a firm but mouth filling structure and velvety tannins on the palate with a long lingering aftertaste. The wine shows full but finely structured tannins, that although restrained now will reward well with a couple of years of bottle maturation.
